It seems that the mouse is no match for a Seal.
Last Friday, Disney announced that they were withdrawing their application to trademark the term Seal Team 6 for use on Christmas ornaments, video games and every other category on their list.
Disney didn't pull back after getting hammered by the late night comics and bloggers like me. According to the Wall Street Journal, it was the threat of a legal challenge by the U.S. Navy that forced their retreat.
Disney can still make a TV show or movie about the team and its daring raid on the bin Laden compound. They'll just have to pay the Navy for the right to the name, as CBS does for NCIS.
Unfortunately they've already paid a high price in the court of public opinion.
